Power shift
There's a Revelation to every Genesis, an inevitable end to whatever exists within our physical realm. It's a story as old as time, a lesson humanity has been taught since time immemorial, the chase of eternity is futile. I am a bit of a history geek, I find it fascinating looking back at different periods of our existence and learning about them. So in my daily dives into the rabbit hole that is my mind, I find myself relating a myriad of current events to events in history. I find that retrospect provides a more neutral and clear perspective to the events that were happening. There are some sayings to back this up; those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it.
When you look back on the political history of our world, you see several examples of similar events occurring at vast intervals of time. The example on my mind is the emergence of civilizations. I will use the Romans as my first example. Augustus Caesar came to power and is credited for the bloom of the Roman empire. Under emperor Augustus Rome saw political flexibility, economic growth and a rise of an almost unbeatable military power. Look at a map of the Roman empire back in the day and you'll see how vast it is. In my opinion, the world was in their hands at the time. They had nearly everything at their disposal, they ruled for almost a millennium! Yet to the average human today their direct influence is almost negligible (note the use of the word direct). They collapsed at the hands of seemingly avoidable circumstances which some historians say were started when Caesar was killed and power switched hands.
That was an empire that ruled for a millennium, an empire that I assume people must have thought would last forever. It still managed to collapse seemingly mediocrely. I will end the history here now, do not worry, but I want you to read about the Romans, they're very interesting people. So, we come back to modern day and we all know who the super-power are and they too managed to tip the scale of power to their favor after the second world war. America, aside from the 1941 attack on pearl harbor, remained virtually untouched during the war (you actually thought the history was over) and was able to focus on growth instead of rebuilding like their European counterparts. In the 1950s the USA experienced rapid economic growth which put them in pole financial position and as we all know Money=power.
Ask anybody now who the powerful country is and most likely you will hear the USA as the first answer. Now in my amateur opinion, modern day power lies in the hands of resource control. I often ask myself why then does a country that can barely produce enough within it's own borders hold the most power? The way I see it, Africa has always been a part of the rise, even in the empires of old, even the United States itself is built on the hard work, blood and tears of African slaves along with other precious resources pillaged from our continent. We are the biggest source of the goods that run this world yet we benefit the least from them. We are in a relationship where we are being extorted by first world countries. It's widely recognized but nobody is doing anything significant about it.
Think of all the world's problems right now and I assure you the most severe of them hit the African continent hard. It pains me to see the effects of climate change for example, being felt the most by people who least contributed to it and at the same time, we are being forced to stop the very things the first world used to develop because now they are deemed harmful, the only time they are convenient is when they benefit the first world and not us. It's sad because if this continues, we will be wrung dry of our resources without ever being able to benefit from them. They charge us to use our resources to develop our countries, nearly all of Africa is now in debt to China who come to 'develop' our countries using our very own produce, that is just a singular example. I might just be a college kid, unaware of the 'greater forces' but still. We have become so accustomed to surviving and suffering that we believe it is all we are capable of. We have become a continent of defeatists
I find it insane how nations whose forefathers came to our lands and persecuted us in order to benefit themselves come to tell us about human rights and even go as far as to come and 'peace-keep' for us. It's madness. I think that a shift in power is in order. We need to start catalyzing a reaction that will bring about a shift in power in our favor. We should shun their systems of education that preach slavery in exchange of pointless consumer goods and pleasures which might I add are slowly being made mandatory to us. They thrive off of the control that their money and technology gives them over us. The first order of business should be to lessen and even eradicate the tools of their control. I think that we should build a continent based on OUR values and not theirs. An unapologetically individual Africa. An Africa that is based on the technical know how of the exploitation of our own resources to our own benefit.
I know there are many steps to be taken in order to ensure not only our dominance but even more so our survival. A survival on our terms and not those of our persecutors. I bet if we unify and strive towards a common goal while being as uncompromising and unapologetic as they are, the next frontier for rapid and expanse development WILL be Africa. The way I see it, the first world right now is struggling. Looming nuclear war, energy crisis and difficult economic times. Just like the Romans after the death of their emperor, there are now exposed weaknesses that we can make use of in order to first level the playing field before ultimately tipping it in our favor. Their Revelation and our Genesis. Jaba imeishia hapo.
Wueehh G this is really eye opening
